Memorial Day in Orlando

MEMORIAL DAY IN ORLANDO

Memorial Day commemorates U.S. men and women who died while in the military service. It is a holiday many of us spend doing family gatherings, backyard BBQs or enjoying a nice evening out with friends and family. However we choose to celebrate Memorial Day in Orlando, we do so by honoring those who have lost their lives for our great freedoms. Here’s a great list of some of the things happening on Memorial Day (and the weekend) right here in Orlando!

The biggest and best event for Memorial Day weekend in Tampa is the Tampa Bay Margarita Festival featuring the Bare Naked Ladies. The festival, of course, is to celebrate that favorite of tequila drinks, the Margarita! There’ll be well over 50 types of Margaritas on hand too, ranging in styles from all-kinds-of-flavors to extreme! The fun begins at Noon on Saturday, May 27th and ends the following night at 11pm. There’ll be over six live bands – so yes, there’ll be tons of tunes! – along with games, pop-up food concepts, a tequila tasting and a Margarita run. If that’s not enough – and it really should be, it all ends with a massive fireworks display. Huzzah!

Memorial Day in Orlando also includes the Memorial Day cruise from Victory Casino Cruises. If you’re a veteran (or know one) it’s free admission! The cruise leaves dock at 11am on Memorial Day and then grants you an entire day at the different and varied gambling tables and machines that are on the ship.

How does a convention sound for Memorial Day in Orlando? MegaCon Orlando hits the Orange County Convention Center Thursday, May 25 and runs until Sunday, May 28. There’s going to be over 100,000 attendees so make sure you get there early! And you can expect some amazing panels – including voices from some classic Disney movies. Line up for your selfies with Paige O’Hara, (the voice of Belle in “Beauty And The Beast”); Irene Bedard, (the voice Of Pocahontas herself!); Linda Larkin, (the voice of Princess Jasmine in “Aladdin”); and last but not least, Christopher Daniel Barnes, (the voice of Prince Eric in “The Little Mermaid”). Wow!!!

Also on Sunday, May 28th, there’s The Wave – a weekend pool party at Aloft. You have to be over 21 to ride the Wave but there’s also VIP pool side cabanas and food and drink specials. On decks are DJ Bo Weezy and DJ Consistency.

There’s lots going on Memorial Day in Orlando – but whatever you choose, please remember to drink responsibly and be safe!
