Best Summer Events in Orlando

It may be true that us Floridians live in a state of perpetual summer, but the few months of ‘actual summer’ are jam-packed with so many fun events you’ll feel  like a kid on summer vacation all over again! Here’s a list of some of the best summer events in Orlando.

Fourth of July

First things first, you can’t plan your summer without knowing precisely where you’ll be at the pinnacle of summer, 4th of July that is!  Good news is, there’s plenty of options to choose from when it comes to fireworks and fourth fun.  The Baldwin Park Independence Day Bash will kicks off with an evening festival in village center and ends with a dazzling firework display over Lake Baldwin. Plus, it’s free!

As if the Orlando Eye isn’t spectacular enough on its own, you will be transported to another world watching a light display from sky-high in the Orlando Eye.  A 20 minute patriotic LED display at 9pm during the holiday weekend is sure to impress locals and visitors alike along with a slew of day and night activities hosted by I-Drive.  Mosy on over to downtown Orlando after the family friendly activities for Wall Street Plaza’s Red White & Brew, where you can food, games, music and more in a block-party style celebration all weekend long!

If you love an old-fashioned picnic in the park, Lake Eola is your go-to destination for the 4th.  Accompanied by a laser show and fireworks display, you’ll be comfy on your picnic blanket while the entertainment comes to you!

Last but not least, Red Hot & Boom in Cranes Roost Park features pyrotechnics + big name live music performances — can’t go wrong here!

Tacos and Tequila

What could be better?  Celebrating the culinary delight that is tacos, Orlando’s best culinary talent will be joining forces July 15th at Cheyenne Saloon for a night of tequila and taco sampling plus live entertainment. Taco’bout a good time!

William Eggleston Exhibit

On a muggy summer day, sometimes the best thing to do is stay indoors and enjoy the air conditioning.  The Beautiful Mysterious: The Extraordinary Gaze of William Eggleston  runs through September 3rd at the Menello Museum of American Art.  Sneak a little culture into your summer bucket list!

For the Love of Summer

Art glorifying summer in summertime? It doesn’t get much summery-er than that!  Local artists will be displaying works on the theme through July 8th at 6th Ave Art Studios.

Yoga at the Lake

Summer oneness is in sight at Lake Eola every Saturday at the Northeast corner of the park.  All levels welcome, $5 donation suggested.  Namaste.

Hone Your Lobster Hunting Skills

The BugFest-By-The-Sea is worth a drive to Ft Lauderdale to kick off the lobster mini season with a party plus a hands-on lobster hunting class and workshop.  This is all leading up to the Great Florida Bug Hunt Contest in which prizes will be given out in several categories.  BugFest will run you $20 to register and includes a T-Shirt and Goody bag (plus invaluable lobster hunting skills).

Catch a Flick Under The Stars

Nothing says summer quite like a balmy evening in one of Orlando’s beautiful outdoor parks.  This summer is chock full of outdoor movie events for all ages.  Movieola at Lake Eola runs every last Friday of the month through August.  Make your movie watching a first and last friday of the month occasion at Leu Gardens Movie night, falling on the first Friday.  East End Market is right next door so you can pop over and grab a bite at one of the many yummy vendors.  La La Land and Star Wars Rogue One are both on the schedule at Leu Gardens!
